Field trip information for your children
Wow, it is hard to believe that it is already July. It seems like the summer has blown by really fast! It is that time of year again, we ask that you please stop in the office or ask Jenna in the am to update and sign your child's emergency card.
We thank each and everyone of you who have kept up on providing daily gear i.e., extra clothes, appropriate shoes, water bottles, sun and bug repellent, and a light wind breaker. Many of the children are venturing to parks on a daily basis and need these essentials.
While on the subject of field trips, please keep in mind that we ask that
all children are at Starbright no later than 9am on your child’s field trip days. As classrooms prep and leave for field trips by 9:30am. We ask that parents do not drop off or pick up a child from a field trip destination. It is for this reason that punctually is important. Children tend to be upset when they are unable to attend a classroom field trip. They feel left out of these unique educational experiences and teachable moments that our teachers are greatly experienced in and that are provided during these great adventures.
Field Trip Schedule
Kindergarten - Mondays & Wednesdays 9:30-11:00
Thursdays (swimming) 10:30-11:30
School-Age - Every afternoon 1:00-4:00
Fridays (swimming) 12:00-1:00

In addition to these scheduled field trips the Sealpups, Bearcubs and Fishroom will be heading to the zoo. Check with your classroom teachers for day and possible parent volunteer opportunity.
Tuition Notices:
Tuition Late Fee Enforcement
Starbright prides itself in helping families through difficult times and in the past we have always been able to accommodate our families during financial  difficulties. However, recently we have fallen on hard times as many of our families have been paying tuition late--really late. Without the tuition from our families we are unable to pay our daily operation bills, teacher salaries, ect. Tuition is due on the 1st and the 15th and no later than the 3rd and the18th. At this time we are enforcing the late tuition fee of $10.00 per day after the 3rd and the 18th of each month. If you have difficulty paying tuition please contact Billie or Jennifer as soon as possible.
We are sorry for any inconvenience
this may pose on you and your family.

News From the Office May 2010

I guess spring is here? With the changing weather, please make sure that your children are still prepared for outdoor play. Each child should have a pair of outside shoes, these can be puddle boots or tennis shoes with closed toes. Please leave a light jacket in the cubby for days when it is not so sunny. Also please note that permission slips for both sunscreen and bug repellent will be circulating this month. If you wish for either of these products to be administered, parents must sign permission slips.

Starbright will be closed on Monday, May 31st, for Memorial Day!

Spring conferences are here. We always look forward to sharing with you your child's achievements and accomplishments. Please look for the sign up sheets posted on the sign in and out clipboards. This years conferences are as follows:
Kindergarten on Thursday, April 29th & Friday, April 30th
Bearcubs on Monday, May 3rd & 1/2 day Tuesday, May 4th
Fish 1/2 day on Tuesday, May 4th & Wednesday, May 5th
Sealpups on Thursday, May 6th

May is a month where we introduce transitions whether it be children moving from class to class, longer outdoor play or even children saying good bye. We will try to make your child as comfortable as possible during these new environments. Please let us know if there are any special concerns that you are having at home. Missy Moore is planning to continue to work until she is just to uncomfortable to do so. Kya (Missy's unborn daughter) is due to arrive in this world sometime near June 9th. Once Kya arrives , Missy will be gone for the summer but plans to come back in the fall.

It is that time to register for the fall 2010 -2011 school year. Registration costs are $25.00 to hold your child's spot for the fall school year. If your plans are to leave Starbright in the fall then the re-registration cost does not apply to you.
Welcome!!!
We are soooooooooooo excited to introduce Frank Fish, Kelsey Olmstead and Wenyin Metcalf as our junior helpers. Our “tea party” will consist of homemade treats, juice and a gift for you. Please join us on Friday the 7th of May at 3:30 p.m.

Bring your cameras! Congratulations to Starbright Kindergartners and parents! The graduation commencement ceremony will be on the 14th of May at 11:30. Please join us for a light lunch, diplomas, viewing of a short class show and a whole lot of prideful smiles. (For those working parents, allow for at least an hour lunch break.) Hope to see you there.

Show some school pride by purchasing a Starbright t-shirt. We have children sized available and $15.00 payable to Starbright is all you need to take home these one of a kind shirts. If you are interested, please see the office.

The annual blood drive for Blood Bank of Alaska is Wednesday, May 12 from 10-2:30 at the Starbright gym. This is a very important event that is dear to us at Starbright for we almost lost our beloved friend Jen 2 years ago when she had complications during childbirth. If it wasn't for the 27 pints of blood she recieved from the blood bank of Alaska we wouldn't have here with us today. If your interested stop by the office and sign up to give blood.

Finally, we are so proud to announce that Starbright has recieved, for the first time ever, a bi-annual license from the MOA. In short this means that we aced our suprise visit from our MOA specialist, Dot Watts. Thank you to all our staff for a terrific job. This means a lot to us!

Thanks for all the support throughout our 2009-2010 school year,
Jen and Billie
